AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs
The AFI released its list of the so-called "top movie songs of all time." After scanning the list, there are some surprising selections (Public Enemy "Fight the Power" at #40, Eminem "Lose Yourself" at #93).
However, what is most troubling to me is who is not included - Prince. I mean, come on! The obvious choices are from "Purple Rain" ("Let's Go Crazy", "When Doves Cry", "Purple Rain"); however, "Sign O' The Times" from the film of the same name or "Kiss" from "Under the Cherry Moon" could have easily made the cut as well.
It's one thing to make some token choices to include hip hop; however, you can't exclude Prince.
