Black Friday: Where are the deals?
For the first time in several years, I slept in on Black Friday. After looking through all of the sales flyers for Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and Target, I was really surprised at how few good deals there were.
In years past, one of the aforementioned stores would always have something at such a ridiculously low price that getting up at 5AM seemed worth it. This year, there wasn't a single item that I felt was priced low enough to warrant the early morning trip.
I have a theory that retailers have figured out that most consumers are ignorant of what items should cost. As long as they open at 6AM, they know a ton of people will still show up whether they discount things or not.
