Fear of Gmail?
OK, it looks like Gmail has officially replaced RFID as the newest and most scariest tool of Big Brother. At least, that's what gmail-is-too-creepy.com thinks. The site, dedicated to "exposing" the risks of Google's new e-mail service, is filled with the same fearmongering that seems to pop up with each new technology product or service.

In a nutshell, Big Brother or the government of somebody really evil could mine data from Google's database and use it track you down and do something very bad to you. Funny, the site never mentions exactly what Big Brother might do to you; however, I'm sure it is very, very bad.

The problem with the points made on the site is that they are not problems specific to Gmail. Yes, Gmail stores personally identifiable information about you in a database. But so do your bank, your credit card company, your mortgage company, etc. The potential for someone to use that information in a way you didn't intend isn't limited to Gmail. Chances are, all of the aforementioned types of companies are already selling some or all of your information to third parties.

I'm not sure why they want to single Gmail out. I just hope these evil people never get a hold of the Louisville phone book...
