No more DirecTiVo?
It looks like DirecTV is finally acting on the long-standing rumor that they would replace TiVo as their DVR software provider. Ever since being acquired by News Corp., rumors have circulated that DirecTV would switch over to DVR software developed by fellow News Corp. company NDS.

According to this USA Today piece, DirecTV will introduce a new NDS-powered DVR device in the second half of 2005. While DirecTV is saying that this new device is merely an "alternative" to TiVo, I have a feeling that it is just a matter of time before I have to kiss my DirecTiVo goodbye.

This is also bad news for TiVo. 61% of their 2.3 million subscribers are using DirecTiVos.
